It operates with a single asphalt runway (10/28) measuring roughly 3,661 meters, capable of handling medium to large aircraft. Originally opened in 1974 as a domestic airport, it was officially upgraded to international status in 2018 as part of Saudi Arabia’s aviation development plans. The airport includes a modern passenger terminal with check-in counters, boarding gates, passenger bridges, lounges, prayer rooms, parking facilities, and basic food and retail services, with an annual capacity approaching one million passengers.
