Al Jouf International Airport is located in Sakakah, the capital of Al Jouf Province, approximately 25 km northeast of the city center, making it easily accessible by road within 20–30 minutes. The airport sits at an elevation of about 689 meters above sea level and serves as a strategic aviation gateway for northern Saudi Arabia. It operates with a single asphalt runway (10/28) measuring roughly 3,661 meters, capable of handling medium to large aircraft. Originally opened in 1974 as a domestic airport, it was officially upgraded to international status in 2018 as part of Saudi Arabia’s aviation development plans. The airport includes a modern passenger terminal with check-in counters, boarding gates, passenger bridges, lounges, prayer rooms, parking facilities, and basic food and retail services, with an annual capacity approaching one million passengers. Al Jouf International Airport primarily serves domestic routes such as Riyadh and Jeddah, with the potential for regional and seasonal international flights, and plays a vital role in supporting business travel, agriculture, tourism, and regional development in the Al Jouf area.
